Following his disappearance into Skid Row not so long ago; fans of Terminator 3 and actor Nick Stahl were extremely worried. It appeared as if the actor would be found dead after reports suggested his long term battle with addiction had taken it’s toll. Once the actor was found and was admitted into rehab he discharged himself and it looked as if Terminator 3’s John Connor would finally be Terminated once and for all…
The good news is that Nick has finally cleaned up his act and is looking healthy, he is definitely off drugs because one of the terms of access to his daughter is that he is legally required to be clean by wife Rose if he is to see Marlo.
Before his addictions started to become a problem for the actor he was working on some interesting movie projects and seemed to be on the right track and it was a surprise to everyone when Nick ran into troubles.
Like with most young stars Nick had trouble with addiction early on his life much like T2’s Edward Furlong.
Edward Furlong is currently serving a prison sentence for violence and was given the opportunity to go into rehab instead of prison but Furlong chose prison instead. Furlong seems to have totally ruined his chances of ever returning to the Terminator franchise.
After both Stahl and Furlong’s recent troubles we have been pushing for Christian Bale to return to the role of John Connor in Terminator 5 as we are sick and tired of actor changes but now we have Nick back so we are open to both actors trying for the role.
Nick has come under fire from the fan base that were disappointed in Terminator 3 (that’s around 80% of them) for his portrayal of a wimp bitching version of John Connor but much like Christian Bale TheTerminatorFans.com understand that this not the fault of the actor himself but the material he had to work with, with bad writing and troubled productions and unsuitable directors (Mostow & McG) and studios interested in making big bucks and not quality movies.
Utilizing Stahl would allow a sequel to Terminator 3 and using Bale would give a sequel to Salvation but Annapurna Pictures & Skydance Productions may just go Terminator 3 on our asses and wipe out the previous movies and the other option is obviously a reboot (which is not what the fans want at all).
So now there are 2 John Connor’s back in town. Nick Stahl has stated before he got ill that he would definitely be up for returning to the role and given the right script could give us a different harder version of John Connor.
So if you could bring back a previous Connor who would you choose… Nick Stahl or Christian Bale?

he was ok for the series. but i don’t think he has the gravitas to portray JC on the big screen.

I agree that Nick Stahl probably did get a hard time of it due to the crappy script and poor choice of director. The only problem i’d have is this: Would Stahl be allowed to make the character his own? The same goes for Christian Bale, because Bale brought part of HIS batman character to the part of JC. It’s more likey that the balance needs to be right, for either actor to bring their best to the part. The script has to be equal to T2 level, if not better, and the director has to have an understanding of what the fans( and I do mean FANS inevery sense of the word) wantout of this film. We don’t want to see a diluted action film with comedy or stupidity to it.(If I did, i’d go see a film with The Rock in it). We want the next Terminator film with some nuts to it, a rated R film, one with a nice shiny ’18 or older’ sticker all over it!!!

Christian Bale, and if not Bale… Just anyone! But NOT Nick Stahl. Nick Stahl IS a wimp, he does not have the look of a leader at all. Bad script, yes. But he is still not suitable for being John Connor. Christian Bale is much better in that case.
But hey, why even make John Connor the central figure in the new movies? Why not a movie about Kyle Reese and fellow resistancesoldiers. How they actually fight back in the future? And make John Connor some kind of supporting role or something.
yes i agree. John Connor shouldn’t have been in the spotlight as much as he was in T:S. the leader of the human resistance is supposed to be hidden so it’d be more difficult for the machines to find him.

Christian Bale all day everyday. He was the only “Adult” John Connor that was any good. Nick Stahl was really, honestly terrible.
