Back when we first heard that Terminator 4 would be a full on Terminator future war movie, fans imagined something great; something that James Cameron had shown Terminator Fans glimpses of in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. What we got instead was a future war which resembled nothing like James Cameron had teased us with – the result being Salvation, not the worst Terminator movie but also not the future war the fans deserved either.
TERMINATOR: HUNTER KILLER (‘Future War’ Short Film)
Sometimes all it takes is a fan to do what the studios won’t… which brings us to an unofficial project, proof of concept by concept / 3D artist Jamie Martin, which manages to achieve what movies have failed to do all these years; and that is to give Terminator Fans the future war they asked for.

The short film shows a world ruled by SkyNet and its machines. The true blue, dark and gritty future war is on full display and all that’s left to do is just sit back and soak up the atmosphere and imagery of the Terminator movie James Cameron could have made (but just didn’t, due to copyright and people pissing in his soup).

Oh my god. While there’s no plot to speak of, this is a jaw-droppingly gorgeous tour of the future war world! I could watch this all day.
Salvation notwithstanding, this is also the longest future war sequence we’ve seen, which is wonderful, and it doesn’t feel like a fan movie at all. Excellent use of sound and Brad Fidel’s original music, and Michael Biehn’s dialogue turned into a voiceover is perfect. Is that actually him, or did they get someone who sounds just like him to re-record the lines with different pacing?

That was a fantastic shortfilm, I love to see sequences in the future war, the style and pallets are so characteristic of it, and the way the machines are potraied hunting is fantastic. This was great to watch and I congratulate this creator for it, it really captures the essence form the HK in the Terminator future.

THE TERMINATOR 2 3D DRONES ARE ALSO AN INTERESTING IDEA. A TERMINATOR WHOSE EXOSKELETON (HEAD, CHEST AND HIP, ARE 3 FLYING DRONES, AND THE FEET AND ARMS ARE LIKE WALKING SCOTCHES IN THE STYLE OF HYDROBOTS) AND THIS COVERED IN LIQUID METAL LEATHER. THAT SERIES ALSO VERY INTERESTING TO SEE.

A film from the future that would bring back the second world, the theme of concentration camps and the theme of self-survival, such as the Band of Brothers or the Pacific, would be nice.
I do not think so. A raw sci-fi film about a cyborg is enough for me, which is part of the inevitable … A sense of detail and focus on the characters would be nice.
I really don’t want a blockbuster in the style of F9 or Marvel universe. A good oldfashional filmmaking what, instead of an mega buster effects, offers me a quality emotional experience that I can even think about, that i would welcome right away …
For me personally… Scifi survival horror with concentration camps and resistance wold be good. But not for glorious holy war effects
just only want to see, how from blood of others killing machine was born, first encounter to desparate try to delay unavoilable…

Good bless for Matrix at least (sense for details in narative, visual, etc) I won’t be angry when it won’t be so good as Original. Only when producers will not show stupidity because they want to be cool….
btw: i want a Terminator. Not a Terminators army or future war universe… Oldfashional sci fi horror movie about what humanity is about.
It would also be very interesting to see this combined with the game Terminator 3: The redemption
