Paramount Pictures To Rate TERMINATOR 7 PG-13?

Terminator 7 To Be Rated PG-13?

Have you been following the recent Terminator 7 ‘news’?

Well, things have been a little, shall we say… questionable, in regards to the legitimacy of the information which has surfaced on the internet over the last few months.

I get it, I do, I think at this stage we all get it; a certain news source has been front and center regarding the floatation of fresh information on the subject of the seventh movie in the Terminator franchise, and most of said information is… sketchily attached to ‘Hollywood insider‘ Daniel Richtman, who has a reputation for “scoops” which are, sometimes, correct (well, can’t be wrong all the time, no?).
Now, as I tiptoe around stating my unfiltered opinion on We Got This Covered (snake oil salespersons of the entertainment media universe), let’s get right up to our chins with some new, news-like, news on the age rating of Terminator 7…

    We Got This Covered, stated:

“However, insider Daniel Richtman claims that Paramount are once again pushing for a new Terminator movie and they want it to follow in the PG-13 rated footsteps of Salvation and Genisys, while James Cameron is reportedly keen to keep things R.”

    WGTC

    How Legitimate is the Information?

The Patreon for Mr. Richtman, to which the WGTC article is once again linked, features under the heading of ‘Rumors‘ (Déjà vu anyone?).
We Got This Covered is subscribed to Richtman’s Patreon… if you Google Richtman you’ll find all manner of threads and discussions on the, er, quality, of his aforementioned ‘scoops’, but you will also no doubt find that WGTC has many many links and articles which cite Daniel Richtman as the source. Now, I’m not saying that Richtman’s officially on the payroll but… *strong side-eye*.

If we look at how plausible it is for Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media to want a future Terminator movie to take place (at some point) – it is very possible; just look at the failure of Genisys and, somehow despite that, the birth of Dark Fate.
If we consider the potential for Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media to want a future Terminator movie to carry a rating of PG-13 – yes, that is also very possible, especially given the two studios’ tendency to collaborate on PG-13 movies.

Does it take great intellect to make that leap? No.

The Terminator franchise has a PG-13 problem, and sadly, Paramount Pictures and Skydance Media have done little to truly rectify it (please use the comment section below to explain why I’m wrong, and why Terminator: Dark Fate is actually the epitome of the R rating).

So, is this ‘news’ really news? Honestly? No. But just in case there ends up being even the most minute shred of truth to the information provided (though that could simply be coincidental – for the reasons stated above), we got this covered, well, mostly.

IF this is true, I cant believe they would even entertain the idea of a PG-13 rating. I thought they tried this already. PG-13 makes it whimpy. Salvation was entertaing and would have been better with some F bombs and gore. If an R rating is offensive, then stick to Twilight movies like Summit. Do the studios read any comments?…Make a future war film with Edward Furlong…he is now old enough to play the adult JC we saw in the beginning of T2. Use paractical effects..terminate the CGI computers first, then go after Skynet. Bring it right up to sending T800 and Kyle to 1984 LA. From there they could even make a post war Terminator 8? The movie needs the FULL attention of Cameron. No more “pops,” no more “Carl.”

Why won’t they just let it die ? what profitable potential could they possibly see in it ?

each post-T2JD sequel has been giving diminishing returns, Dark Fate (IMO a overall better overall t-film compared to Salvation and Genisys but somehow worse then T3ROTM) was a complete failure in the box office.

      let it die already.

Kinda late on this (did see the movie when it first released in cinemas); have to say, really sad that it came to this and the franchise is apparently… terminated (haha, I’m funny, I know).

Rare to see something by Cameron’s hand not go as well as expected. I’ve heard right and left that people were “tired” of the franchise; but then again, if the old fans (who have grown up) don’t support it, who’s gonna?

The augmented soldier was a nice, fresh idea. But I can’t say I liked Cameron’s vision; that in the new planned trilogy, there will be conflict and in the end, there’s going to be a compromise between the 2 sides. That’s too much like Matrix (love Matrix, but that’s not Matrix, it’s Terminator; yeah it’s Machines here too but they’re controlled by an ‘Overmind’ of sorts; Matrix is a repeating cycle or something). Personally, I’d like for the viewers to be shown the End War, far into the dark, grim future with the Resistance eventually victorious. Then, there could be spin-offs, tv shows, other movies and what not. Thank God, alternate/distorted/branching timelines is what this franchise does (did?) best.

And John Connor being killed, just to have a girl who pratically serves the exact same purpose? Oh, well… And I didn’t really buy that Skynet’s done for. As they said previously, the first thing it does is guarantee its existence. Now, when Rev-9 talks to Carl, he says to him “We were designed for the same purpose” and stuff. Now, it could be a machine just reading another machine out but, imho, he was essentially calling him “brother”. Besides, Legion’s Terminator designs were AWFULLY SIMILAR to those of Skynet. Coincidence? I think not.

As for the subject at hand; yeah, I don’t really see how PG-13 could work for Terminator. Maybe if they did a cartoon similar to Transformers: Robots in Disguise lol.

Sorry for Trump’s Great Wall of txt. Kudos if you read it all. Happy New Year everyone.
