*If you do not want to read leaks or spoilers for the new Terminator movie then do not proceed… –

The fate of John Connor has seemingly been revealed in new leaks and spoilers that originated from Reddit with numerous leakers stating that they had seen the movie at test screenings.
With accounts of these test screenings differing in detail; one would assume that some falsehoods might possibly be being told but what if audiences are being tested by official sources with different versions of the movie?

Test screenings can include scenes with no CGI, unfinished motion picture scores and different story elements like the death of a character, or the survival of a character, a happy ending or a sad one but what if John Connor’s fate is exactly what the recent leaks are about…

What if we the fans, and audiences, are being tested so the studios can make the best decision for the movie… ?

We discuss all of this in our breakdown video and go into more detail about the survival of John Connor,- which you can watch below.

Someone who claims to have attended a test screening for Terminator: Dark Fate contacted us at TheTerminatorFans.com – this viewer claims, and refutes, certain information stated in the other leaks (in this version of Terminator: Dark Fate).

    THIS NEW LEAKORIGINAL LEAKS (3 LEAKS+ 4CHAN)
John Connor Lives – leads a new life
without his mother. Observes the news at the end of the movie (in present – adult or child – past – age of John not provided). John lived a normal life.
John Connor Killed brutally by ‘Carl’ the T-800, with a shotgun at a beach bar in 1997/1998
LEGION is an Anti Terrorist Program that becomes self-aware with the memory of SkyNet (NEXUS memory like Genisys?)LEGION IS THE NEW SKYNET developed by humans
T-800 sacrifices itself to destroy REV 9T-800 Terminated by REV 9 (first leaks)/T-800 uses Grace’s powercell to explode REV 9 (4CHAN)
Dani Ramos is the new leader of the Resistance, not her child.SkyNet doesn’t want Dani; it wants her womb (since edited out/removed from Reddit)
    Judgment Day happens in 2020
Grace is from the year 2045Grace is from the year 2042
Movie driven by female warriorsVery feminist movie “equal opportunity”
Artifacts left-over from REV 9 destruction go on to create REV 1
Sarah and John will train Dani Ramos in the next movie
John sent Carl to 1997 to protect him but he failed and existed in society until now
Carl the T-800 texts Sarah Connor Co-Ordinates to help her hunt Terminators
    Grace’s co-ordinates on her stomach match co-ordinates on Arnold’s T-800
    Sarah survives
Carl (T-800) blows himself up to destroy REV 9Sarah Connor removes Grace’s Power Cell to sacrifice for REV 9 destruction, gets knocked away from Grace and Carl (T-800) uses it for a sacrifice. (4Chan)

*NOTE: The original information from the Reddit thread has been altered/added to/edited/deleted/elaborated upon, and has changed continually over the course of time since the first leaks began appearing on the website. Not only have the leakers memories improved with time but they appear to have gained an almost photographic recall of the footage from the initial screening – all of which brings into question the validity of the information.

So, according to the new leak John Connor does not die… We also find out more about this screen attendee’s account of what he apparently saw of the evolution of Legion (the alt timeline anti-terrorist program born from early SkyNet research) and REV 9 (how from the demise of the REV 9, the REV 1 will be created), how the T-800 gets named Carl and how this will be Arnold’s last outing as a Terminator in the franchise. We also get echoes/similarities with other leaks of the death/sacrifice of Grace and the T-800, perhaps strengthening the 4Chan leak that might have been thought to be fake by the sub reddit owner.

It totally makes sense that alternate cuts would be shown and they would likely get leaked. The studios may now be watching the opinions on the internet to possibly shape the movie if people really didn’t like something.

The original email message received by us (with this leak account of John surviving and living a non-savior to humankind life):

False everything .ive seen the screening and mostly true but John doesnt die…he is abandoned and he started a new life w/o his mother until at the end of the movie he watches the news and he turns it off and movie ends but he is no longer the resistance leader but legion is created by the leftover cyberdyne and become a anti-terrorist program until it becomes self aware and wakes up with the memory of skynet but dani Ramos is the resistance leader because of John Sarah grace and the t800 he uses the van to nickname him Carl. And in the new future which takes place in 2045,grace was sent by dani to protect her,and John connor which he is the reason why she becomes the resistance leader and yes rev9 does destroy grace but the last t800 blows himself up and the rev 9 but the leftover of the rev9 is found and became rev1 and t800 was sent by John to ensure him in 1997 but changed the future and lived in default programming meaning he becomes a civilian but if this movie succeeds then it will show Sarah John training dani ramos… this is Arnold last appearance as the t800.but fans were kinda mad that dani is the resistance leader and not John and the t800 screen time wasn’t as much in the other films and its driven by female warriors

Whether or not the version of John Connor, which was stated to have been seen (by the new leaker) at the end of Terminator: Dark Fate, is young John or a more mature adult John is up for debate – this information was not given to us.

Why change the original concept story of John Connor (leader of the resistance) . Crazy !!! How can Tim Miller be a major fan of terminator and direct this film with this new timeline? Jim any response to all your loyal fans? Basically killing off John in away and making another (female) leader? really?

After stewing over this leak news for 2 days I started to think it could have been a ploy to probe the masses so they could reshape the movie for the best results possible. This isn’t an uncommon practice so I’d believe it. I want to believe it, really..the current mold for the movie is just horrible. Maybe they did it deliberately to create more buzz and to wow the audience with surprises when the release date is upon us. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I would be dubious of this new source.

The other leaks had multiple sources and they all verified pretty much the same information. Where they differentiated was the endings. This is common for films, as multiple endings are usually assembled for films that have had lots of different writers come through.

But a different cut where John Connor is not killed at the beginning? That’s something of an alternate movie than the one we’ve just uncovered. I don’t believe they are going to go through all the trouble of a CGI scene of live actors only to not utilize it.

Go ahead and read this “leak.” It’s written by someone with limited English capacity and it reads like one long thought. This isn’t the plot of a movie. It’s a fan reciting a loosely thought out piece of fiction.

I don’t believe it. This is the type of reaction you’re bound to get out of people who don’t want to see John die and are going to claim there’s versions of the film where he doesn’t.

Why would anyone want to see yet another re-casting of John Connor?? I see this as being a very reasonable way of writing him out of the main story. They changed the future in T2 so I see that as a perfect opportunity for the leader of the residence to have changed too. The best John Connor we ever got by far was Eddie as the child version of the character….and lets face it, we are not likely to have Eddie come back aside from perhaps some sort of performance capture on his Cgi child double.
Lets move on! a continuation of T2 is better off by not just repeating what has come before

The best John Connor was the adult version in T2 (future scenes) – Eddie was great as the young Connor – I was looking forward to seeing a mature/adult version of him. Dont you want to see how he became the leader? Show how the humans fought hard against the machines (have it go full circle) T3 to T5 is ignored and I’m good with that….If you watch T1 and T2 back to back, you would think the story continues and fans would want the same…..Anything else (time change, leader change, etc, etc) kinda feels like milking the cow to much. I should be thankful that we have another terminator film (don’t feel Arnold can continue with T-800 role anymore. He could continue more as the human scientist who the T-800 was based on)

If it weren’t for T3 , salvation and genisys then I would probably have wanted to see John Connor continue. Who knows really….I remember wanting a Terminator 3 since back in the day and we have had years now of Sub-par sequels. Dark fate really needs a change of characters now at this stage

The concept that everything must continue from T2 isn’t fresh and admit it John’s era has ended. I don’t want to see any other salvation and no I don’t wanna know what John fight to terminator coz i have seen it already in T1-T2. If they made anything different than whatever i see in T1 and T2 i’ll be disappointed. So let’s start new era with some fresh idea and let the franchise move on.

The franchise isn’t going to continue. If they Kill off John Connor the Terminator franchise will be killed off with him. You can’t have the Terminator without John Connor. He is the leader of the resistance. If they change that up and make somebody else the leader of the resistance, then how in the hell did he send Kyle Reese back to save his mom in the first one. How in the hell did he send a Terminator back to save him in the second one. If he gets Killed in this one and never becomes the Leader of the Resistance then they have just rendered Terminator 1 and 2 obsolete. Hollywood, at this point in time, needs to be cast astray as traitors. Everything they are doing nowadays is to kill off all of our beloved Franchises for some fucking ridiculous SJW, PC, Feminazi bullshit. And it needs to stop. With all this crap going on I am hoping that Hollywood goes bankrupt. And when they do I will laugh my ass off, and then I will party till I puke.

If there was a script leak we are sure it would have been in mass circulation by now. When the script for Genisys leaked you could literally just download a copy. Hopefully that doesn’t happen with T:DF.

Mother and Son as well as John continuing to grow up and become the leader / savior of mankind. Growing up with and always pondering these movies is a very special part of my life. I was about John’s age when I saw T2, and though he may not have been the perfect role model, I certainly as a kid looked up to him and related to him quite a bit!

When I was a boy, I used to ride my bike through the neighborhood, my house was at the bottom of a street / hill. I used to be like John, always out and about, exploring and getting into mischief. When I got to the road at the top of the hill after adventuring on my bike through the neighborhood (pretending I was evading enemy fire and being pursued by a fast terminator), I’d pause at the top of the tall hill to catch my breath and look around, then ride down that steep street / sidewalk it as fast as I could and pretend I was being chased by an 18 wheeler. Wind blowing my brown hair back, sunlight on my skin. At the last second I’d skid and swerve into my driveway, and hop off as my bike tumbled into the lawn as I kept running until I got to the door steps and darted inside and slammed the door, heart beating and panting. I’ve loved the Terminator movies ever since I was John’s age. I’d be very upset at the writers, creators of this movie if they failed to write and create a meaningful story honoring the beloved characters and stories we and cinema has been shaped by. Rise to the challenge of crafting a deep and meaningful story without sacrificing or abandoning the characters and stories that built this world. It might be easier and ‘clever’ to remove, to shock set up the next installment, but it’d be. What was the point in setting up and exploring these gritty concepts and emotional stories and world-changing characters if to continue the story, you get ride of them? That makes everything we experienced as fans meaningless and empty, because if they don’t matter now, then that means they didn’t back in the day either – which is unimaginably saddening because that sounds more like marketing or studio or ‘clever’ writers talking, “yeah, this’ll really shock’m!” vs what us true fans would love and be so grateful to see. Man, I can’t tell you how excited I was to hear Edward was getting healthier and in shape because I thought that meant he’d be in this movie, at least at the end, meeting up his mom in the future now that they’ve made to the future, concluding a journey that took past present and now into the future – crating something very few films have ever touched on before because the time in real life matches the time in the movie more or less, and we’ve been waiting so long for our characters to continue their journey in their present, and on into their future.

Wondering about John having to grow up in order to lead us against the machines, and send his friend back (who he knew would was actually his father!) to become his father and protect his mother, was and is an awesome thing to ponder. It would feel like forsaking all that happened, all that came before, all the build up of this lore and feel disingenuous to just divert from that – especially if it’s just for writers / producers to ‘show off’ how clever and witty they are. Us true fans who grew up with and/or love the first two movies, do so because of a perfect mix of the cold and awful future that we cause, and our fight to prevent it. It’s also the emotional bond between mother and son, Sarah and Kyle, and father figure terminator and boy John. The music is a mix of cold synth tech and an emotional, striving to create our own fate feelings. I hate it when a franchise or a beloved story jets and zigzags in ‘creative, clever or interesting’ ways that are never truly creative, clever or interesting – especially when they abandon the stuff that made what we love, special. T2 is in my heart, and I also like and appreciate the warnings and possibilities that were introduced in T1. They are still a possibility in a way, and therefore they could continue with that threat of emotionless a.i. that can ‘wake up’ and determine we are to be eliminated, with the warmth and reliability of mother, son, savior/leader and a machine father figure. These leaks are horrible and even the trailer doesn’t seem to contain the heart, the blue tint, the powerful synth music or the themes, tone or overall love that the first two movies had. Even the factory looks too clean and bright, and the settings look very yellow and almost cheery. That’s a small and probably unnecessary complaint. The action looked over the top and not very gritty or ‘real’ which T1 and T2, while it could be said the action and fights and chases were over the top – they still felt grounded and the danger looked and felt real and present. Don’t shock us with a death scene just so you look poignant or cool, it would be more respectable from us fans if you were able to craft a well developed, interesting and heartfelt story from the work you’ve already done, Mr. Cameron. Unlike so many movies today that simply disregard what made them special just and forget / dishonor their roots. And it’s only us true fans who suffer, because we’re the ones who truly ‘got’ it, the messages, the themes, the entertainment an and information you provided. I don’t mind the newer characters, as long as they fit within the lore and the lore isn’t forsaken just so they can tell their story. Build / continue us true fan’s story, show John becoming the leader, training with his mother, all those stories she filled his head with – before he was a believer – that made him think she might have been screwy (and we know that knowing the fate of the world can make anyone seem nut and certainly drive them a little crazy if it’s their responsibility to raise the child who would grow up to become our leader). So much potential and great stuff to work with, not to mention paving the way over all the lame franchises and cringy blockbusters – you have a chance to show them how it’s done by crafting a meaningful film with purpose and intent. Don’t abandon us (your) true fans, don’t forsake your characters and please continue on with the story that was established in T1 and T2 without making it seem like they didn’t matter, like it was all for nothing just to get this film going. Linda, Edward, Arnold and everyone are in our hearts and we want to see them and their stories shine, not disappoint and dwindle and fade. You have such a special franchise with dun dun dun dun dun music that instantly instills fear and excitement and worry and future and past and emotion, a gritty and cautionary concepts, and all with relatable, believable characters and relationships. don’t throw all that away just for a few minutes of shock, wonder, awe, money – make this movie become a return to form, hearkening back to how cinema looked and made us feel. This could have the potential to shatter the recent couple of decade’s molds of predicable eye-rolly stories, lack of practical effects, empty story and meaningless characters, rubbery cg and lack of real action / stunts of today’s predictable action / sci fi / hero movies. Before T1 started, it’s story began, it’s time to honor the characters and creators of that story by staying on track and honoring this. They are not just movie characters and stories, they are part of our world now. They have shaped our us and will shape our live’s and world’s future, they are too important to in real life as well as to the the story started all those years ago, and if it turns out through awful writing that they aren’t important enough for today’s movie, then they weren’t important enough in the past, making your past movies and the affect they had on our lives meaningless.

I have to admit, I like the idea of having John show up at the end, recognize his mom in the news (or something like that), turns of the tv, turns his head and bam… Eddie Furlong. Movie ends. T2 theme begins. As a fan, I like that. It’s subtle, yet powerful because it brings back all 3 characters back (John, Sarah, T-800). I don’t think they should kill John off but if they couldn’t come up with a good story that includes him, then they’ll just have to do it. Otherwise we have the exact movie we have seen over and over again. The franchise needs something new.

Hope they can read here and there’s still time to fix stuff in post-production. Here’s my few cent, based on what’s known for now:
Part I: what may be do-able for now
      1. Speed up “slow-mo high jump” as to fit real physical velocity, speed up “Grace ‘hammer up’ Rev9” shot for same reason.
-No! NOT “SPEED UP HALF ACROSS SLOW-MO SHOT” KIND OF MTV SH*T!!!!

      2. Establish proper connection between Skynet and LEGION so it can explain how they share similar “mental pattern”, or else “another naked-only time device” would be plain silly when developed by a different A.I.

      3. Give us a movie that can “stand alone”
-Yes, sometimes you got story so big that you get to leave some thread for next installment, that’s actually fine. but each movie should be narratively as complete as possible, with or without foreshadowing threads, which I think is foundamental difference between TV series and movie episodes.
-(For future installment) Avoid story elements which heavily rely on spin-off merchant like Matrix sequels.
–People forgive LOTR on this because everybody knows it came from a huge-book-divided-in-3.
–Genisys got TOO MANY unanswered problem that make audience puzzled and frustrated ALL THE WAY in the movie, so many as to make the narrative broken down entirely.

      4. Careful with physical science (do-able in post-procution?):
-No movie can EVER be perfect with physical accuracy, but James Cameron did it far better than most others. Change in physical “style” can lead to tonal absurdity.
-“Excusing” with physical flaws in prior installment is a dangerous mindset, which often leads to logic “downgrade” through each further installment.
–Example: Star Wars is not known for bright astro-physic, even w/o taking fictional part or “sound in space” into account. But one simply shouldn’t go like “Oh! Originals got physical holes here and there, why bother?” As a result, “everybody instantly sees Galactic Capital got blown-up lightyears away” in Episode VII, a big absurdity even for Star Wars standard. A very forced explanation is given in the novelization, BTW.
–Example 2: Genisys displays typical “Hollywood biology” via present-day Kyle, while it may not be big deal to other casual audience, but fans of T-canon got accustomed of better “scientific accuracy” and related discussion for years, thus can easily feel “slapped” by it. There’s less then one-in-seventy-trillion chance for parents to give birth to genetically identical offspring other than twins, two Kyle Reese would just be timeline-separated siblings at best. Even if Reese parents hit the impossible jackpot, well, even real twins/clone don’t get identical fingerprint.

      Part II: For future intallment
      5. Careful with timeline changes:
-Judgment Day delayed to further the story is fine for me, operation to change future isn’t always guarenteed a success, but it can only be used for a really few time, if not just this once. As previously mentioned, timeline altered for MULTIPLE times yet stay way too silmilar to previous one would be a really weak story. Examples:
–no Terminator from future can either mean successful change to history, or Human resistence so totally defeated that Skynet/Legion/whatever has no need to send Terminator back, or a new rogue A.I. didn’t bother to develop time travel at all.
–John’s birth shouldn’t be messed with. There’s half chance that John got replaced by Jane Connor if Sarah and Kyle mated under different circumstances. I’m all for tough girl leader, but her sucess rate in barbarical post-nuclear world would be far more slim than original Judgmant Day. (Wait, maybe John and Jane Connor can work as Luke and Leia of Terminator?)
–Humans were “that close to going out forever” in the original future, so “everytime” human resistence manage to drive Skynet (or whatever counterpart) to send terminator back naked would be absurd, hence this timeline is pratically the last chance for this franchise to do right.

      6. John Connor can go, but not before his arc being properly finished and passed on the torch.
-A new future need several circumstances so it would bare some resemblence to preceeding one: down to fall of A.I. overlord and sending assassins to past. Specifically it’s about how information pass into new timeline, such as:
–Connors the would-be-veteran pass on knowledge to Dani Ramos to ensure victory in new future, and LEGION may somehow got technological information from Skynet. Both sides kinda receive torch from previous future.
–No more silly “quantum” “nexus” deep-knowledge-pretending thingy, please!

      7. Keep time-travel difficult
-While not explictly mentioned in T2 script, but description of Time Displacment device suggest a super energy consuming, hard to control behemoth. It easily explains why Skynet didn’t and couldn’t send a big group for this last-ditch effort. To me, it foundamentally seperate Terminator mytho from other time-travel flicks. So, no “easy” time-travel!
–Genisys crew actually thought Salvation failed because lack of time-travel, so they have pop build something could’ve been from MIB!

      8. Music score need tonal consistency
-Sorry, Tom XL! I collect soundtrack and used to read stuff about how score writer feels when being peeped from shoulder, and T1, T2 score sound quite different as well, but please, not the way how T3/Salvation sounds NOTHING like original!
-It’s not like we need “duh-duh duh duh-duh” everywhere like some fan-edit Dark Fate teaser, it’s the “legacy” of vibe, and “some” proper use of old theme we need(Come on! Danny Elfman’s Star Wars score?) Genisys score is actually ok on this, but can be better.
-Some segments of Resident Evil score is actually “terminator” enough! 😀
