Annapurna Pictures and Skydance have now publicly announced that the next Terminator movie (T5) will be released by Paramount Pictures on June 26, 2015.
This will also be a complete new trilogy. Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in Terminator 5! It us unknown at this point if he is attached to star in 6 and 7 too. The press release described it as “the first in a stand-alone trilogy”. Our reboot fears could be reborn. It depends if this is a continuation or a TOTAL REBOOT!
Terminator 5 will be produced by Megan Ellison and David Ellison. Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake of Skydance will serve as executive producers. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier are finalizing their script.
In roughly 5 years the series will revert back to James Cameron as previously discussed on this website. So before 2018 hits they have to release 3 Terminator movies. Let’s hope they are not rush jobs but they use the time equally and well to make each of the 3 new Terminator movies the best that they can be!
Now we just need Brad Fiedel back for the music and some of the old cast and crew to make this a true new Terminator trilogy!

hmm I’m now very worries
I can understand if they want to start fresh *ignorning* the events of T:Salvation and even T3… but if they ignore T1 and T2 and start over, i’ll be extremely disappointed….
I’am too!

A reboot would be a good thing it doesn’t invalidate what came before at all.
That feeling of terror is creeping in again! If they are doing a complete remake and ignoring T1 and T2, I’ll be extremely pissed.
T3 and T4 fell short and it would be hard to continue after those entries. I was under the illusion that we would be getting a direct continuation of T2.
Megan Elisson and Annapurna better start talking because they’ve left us guessing for far too long.
Yes we agree that the owners have left so much mystery in concern to whether this is a continuation or total reboot that obviously it has made fans anxious and it needs to stop. There is such thing as dangling a carrot for too long… until it’s rotted and no longer seems appealing to eat.
The sooner we know the plot the better! If it does reek, then at least the outspoken Terminator fans can make themselves heard and demand they reconsider. It will be our asses in the seats afterall!
The writer choice alone gives me the fear!
I belive Terminator 5 should be a totally new story. Terminator was made with fund money as well and it was the story that won. If Arnie is to be in it he should play himself as the Template for say a Cyborg Army that lashes back and in a fun way be intergrated into the new franchise.
I hope it’s not a total reboot!
Hope we see the future war!
Hope they have a A director!
Would be nice the talk a little bit more about the project..because the people are confused!
Trilogy that would mean the have to make 3 movies to 2018!??
5 years time??hmm maybe the film back to back?
Im with you a total re boot isnt needed. I belive T1-2-3 are timeless . A really good story is needed REALLY GOOD.
Hi. Maria from Sweden here. Hope like You do that it is NOT a total reboot of the 3 first films. Have a nice weekend.
Hi all. Maria from Sweden here. Looking forward to see “Terminator” again. Do hope it´s not a trilogy about the 3 first one´s! That the story begins where “Terminator Salvation”- ended. Looking forward to see Mr Schwarzenegger again. Me and my son a talking a lot about the “Terminator”-Movies. Have a great Terminator-weekend.
Really looking forward to the new Terminator. To see Mr Schwarzenegger do comeback as that character. Hugh from Maria Sweden
Looking forward to the new Terminator with Mr Schwarzenegger among others. Went to the Movie as a teenager and saw the first Terminator. Been following the Movies since then. My son also now. Do hope thoe that the story continues where Terminator Salvation ended. Have a nice weekend. Hug Maria Sweden.
Hi my name is Johnny and I’m from Sweden. I must say I am disappointed in what is planned for the next Terminator movie! I’m a huge fan of the Terminator films and have them all. I’m glad That Arnold is back but it will be a new beginning is not what we fans want to see!! People want to see the sequel not a new beginning!
I am an absolutely humongous fan of all the movies, and the short-lived television series. However, I will attempt to go and see these movies, whether it’s a total reboot or not, because Annapurna and Skydance have each made some pretty decent films. I hope, like all on this board, that these will be extraordinary movies, that they will surpass anything done to-date, with one or more excellent writers, some great directing and cinematography, decent but not overwhelming special effects, etc. However, I am not afraid of this new trilogy because, if they fail, I still have the first four to fall back on. A lot of people hate on 3 and 4 but, as entertainment pieces they’re pretty good. Good night, all.
