Skydance (the studio behind T:DF) have now uploaded a copy of the Terminator: Dark Fate teaser trailer – the big difference comes in the description that was posted with the video… an official synopsis:
“27 years after the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a new, modified liquid metal Terminator (Gabriel Luna) is sent from the future by Skynet in order to terminate Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes), a hybrid cyborg human (Mackenzie Davis), and her friends. Sarah Connor comes to their aid, as well as the original Terminator, for a fight for the future.”
Natalia Reyes (who will play lead character Dani Ramos) stated that the movie would take place in the present day, and it is also interesting that Gabriel Luna’s ‘Rev 9’ isn’t just targeting Dani Ramos (primary target) and Grace (Mackenzie Davis) but their “friends” as well.
If this is the case; this reminds us of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines where the T-X also had to terminate key figures of the human resistance – like lieutenants/commanders etc. in John Connor’s Tech Com. Jose Barrera was one of those targets in Rise of the Machines, who was killed while he worked in a Fast-Food drive-through. The key figures on the T-X’s hit list would go on to be vital in the take-down of SkyNet and overall victory of the Resistance in the future war.
The movie is supposed to take place over the course of 36 hours according to writer/producer James Cameron.
Slightly conflicting is that the movie is set 27 years after the events of T2: Judgment Day… This would mean that Terminator: Dark Fate is set in the year 2022… (obviously this could be rounded up or down depending on the plot specifics) as Terminator 2’s story was set in 1995 but if we added 27 years onto 1991 (the year the film was released) we would get the year 2018…
Interestingly Arnold is described as playing the “original Terminator”… whether that means 1984’s ‘The Terminator’, or just stating he is the original Terminator just as Linda Hamilton is the original Sarah Connor remains to be seen…
While this Synopsis seems simple, and lacking in details, it does give fans more information. What do you think of this basic plot outline?

interesting, this could be John is alive and hidden… and we will see some other tech-com characters (friends or allies)… this could be that Dani Ramos is the new Kate Brewster (John’s Wife)… what I dont understand is how uncle Bob is alive… does John Connor copy his memory chip whiel he take it out at the garage fuel station? Or this t-800 is other sent back to the past to be in standby mode and be the personal bodyguard for John just in case other Skynet terminator pop-up…

Arnold playing The Original Terminator, will be interesting to see exactly what that means.
He is the terminator from T2 , if you look at the Dark fate featurette clip , arnold still has the arm scars of when he cut his skin in T2 .
T2 took place in 1994, so Dark Fate will be set in 2021 apparently.
