For those fans who like variant cover art and steelbook editions to add to their Terminator collections, then Terminator Genisys has a new Steelbook Blu-Ray up for pre-order on Amazon Italy which will be released on April 18th 2018. Although the new artwork of an Endoskeleton skull sinking into liquid metal kind of contains a spoiler to something that happens in the plot for Terminator Genisys; we think it would have made a better poster for the 2015 movie and for those that have seen the movie and may have liked it,- then for you the artwork itself will have a small intellectual pay off in tribute to that key moment in the movie.
A couple of negatives are that we can’t see a CPU port- this now seems to be becoming a trend by digital artists and the Endoskeleton looks slightly cross eyed but we would all probably go a little cross eyed if we were sinking into a vat of mimetic poly alloy. Otherwise, aside from our desperation to go back to the original Endoskeleton design for the future of the franchise, this is definitely one of the better artworks for home release regarding Terminator Genisys.
We always like to look beyond what we see in front of us and without a doubt the first time we saw this new artwork we instantly thought “HEY, BUCKET HEAD” yes, that moment from T2 3-D: Battle Across Time when the T-800 uses a smashed up Mini-HK to Frisbee decapitate a T-800 Endoskeleton on the journey to SkyNet in the Future War surroundings of downtown LA.
To say this is not a clone of the 3D gag- when the skull spins up into the sky and halts before the camera before dropping down with gravity, would be an understatement.
The inside of the Blu-Ray Steelbook will feature Pops Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Grandpa T-800) and Sarah (Emilia Clarke’s Sarah Connor) in a nano-bot mist style.
